What's in YOUR grape juice?

Radio question of the day:

Forty six percent of computer users say they have done this. What is it?

****************************************************

What I learned today:

In 1815 French chemist Michael Eugene Chevreul realized the first link between diabetes and sugar metabolism when he discovered that the urine of a diabetic was identical to grape sugar.

It never occurred to me to worry about what else those grape stompers might be doin' in the barrel there. Now I wanta know why it occurred to ol' Michael Eugene that grapes and urine had anything in common. I mean, what was that boy drinkin'?

*************************************
Answer to the Radio Question of the Day:

Hit the computer. Oh, yeah! Been there. Done that.
Only 46 percent? Huh! Guess some folks drop kick the thing.

I think we know what he was drinking, I wonder if you can make wine out of it?

There is a technical term (used by computer support people) for hitting or kicking the computer to make it work - percussive maintenance.

Sounds a lot better than "Honey, I kicked the bl**dy compter" - you say "Honey, just doing some proactive percussive maintenance..."

I want to listen to your radio station. It's much more informative than my silly 80s station.

I have hit the desk, I have stomped my feet, but I haven't hit the computer...yet

You know, I've never hit my computer. Huh.

Ew! I might never drink grape juice again!

Nope, not me...not the violent type! I've never hit my computer, it's a laptop and entirely too delicate for hitting. And luckily for my computer I'm not able to kick it, because there have been times...
I did however accidentally knock my over-bed table on to the floor and the computer went flying. I killed it and was without access for over a week. Never again, now I treat it like the sweet little delicate flower that it is.

Hmmm, so if you're diabetic, you can just let your urine ferment? Interesting.

HIT a hard thing like a computer? Seems to me, you'd get a sore hand doing that. I do resort to cussing, though.

Okay, I don't know why, but for some reason I misread the answer and thought it said "hit on the computer". First I wondered why 46% of people would voluntarily admit to hitting on their computer. Then I wondered if that wasn't just the same as turning on their computer.

Hit it? Naaaa, but I have been tempted to throw the little shit on the floor and stomp on it a few times. Does that count?

Maybe grape stompers ate grapes and then stomped.

I drink grape juice every day, or at least I did until now.

I have NEVER hit my computer. And only once did I take an axe to it.

There have been many many times when I felt like doing a bit of percussive maintenance. I hit the cat instead (j/k).

Trust a Frenchman to discover something relating to wine, eh. :-)

waaaaah:P I'm not in the 46% group. Never hit my pc before...but the good ole printer has had its fair share especially at work. It loves chewing paper up midway through printing. And when this happens, it gets a great big thump , repeated at least 3 times before ink cartridge is removed and the offending scrunched up paper removed. Certainly messes up the mood.

This is the I Love Lucy scene that Julia Roberts is watching on TV in Pretty Woman. I had never seen it before and nor had she. And now here it is again!
