Come blow your horn
Answer to the Radio Question of the day:
Blow their horn.
The question of the day on the radio had been asked and answered before I turned to the proper station for that.
It was very foggy this morning. I mean really, really foggy. I was having a hard time of it on the way to meet my walking buddy Irene.
I'm listening to this radio station, and folks are callin' in sayin' "Did you get the answer yet?"
Radio DJ: "Yes, we did. But what did you think the answer was?"
Caller-in: "Drive in the ice and snow."
RDJ: "No, it was 'Honk their horn.' "
Next caller: "Did you get the answer to the question yet?"
RDJ: "Yes, we did. What was going to be your answer?"
Next caller: "Drive after dark."
I'm driving and trying to think hard, "what the #$%^* was the *(@#% question?"
Now, ol' Lucy isn't the type who can walk and chew gum at the same time. Here she is tryin' to drive and derive at the same time, in the fog. It ain't safe I tell ya.
People keep on calling in and asking the wrong question, "Did you get the answer to the question of the day yet?"
Any fool can see that the right question is, "WTF was the question of the day?" Ah sees.
That was this morning. Since then I've run a few errands, had the car serviced, and gone to see "Brokeback Mountain" with husband, Niks. That's a really good movie. I sure don't think of it as a gay cowboy movie at all. It's a sad love story, pure and simple. Very well done. Both guys are very good actors. Beautiful scenery as well.
Now it's about 5:15 PM and I still don't know the question to the answer of the day. Just called the radio station and asked them. The question to the answer is,
60% of drivers are afraid to do this because they think it might be dangerous...
Oh, yeah! I've killed many a person by honking my horn. Or at least maimed them. Those drivers.
What I learned today: Brokeback Mountain was filmed in British Columbia, Canada. The story is set in Wyoming, and was directed by Ang Lee.

You've been busy!
Glad you saw Brokeback Mountain. I knew you'd like it.
I'm jealous you got to see the film. Speaking of honking, I learned quickly, it just isn't done around here. Even if the light turns green and the person at the head of the line sits and sits and sits, no honking. Strangest thing. Not at all like NJ where you better gun it when the light turns green.
Hey, btw, it's virtual ladies night out. Everyone's welcome to come with!
Come with! Are you from PA? That's a PA Dutch expression.
Oh, yeah. I'm coming. Fer sure.
"derive and drive" Boy, you are smart! I never noticed on account of how charming and witty you are!
lol, I hate coming in half way through, don't you?
You are just the best!
Hi Ms Lucy: "Come with" is also used in Chicaga, too. Ask Doug Bierce. The first time I heard it I said, "huh?" I still do. It was like my head spun around waiting for the end of the sentence. Anyhow, just thought I'd stop by and contribute this lil' bit o' trivia and to say good day!
I haven't seen the movie yet, but read the short story some time ago by Annie Proulx. (not sure I'm spelling her name right) she has wonderful short stories about Wyoming characters.
Hello Ms. Lucy! I knew there was something wrong with my day yesterday. I didn't stop by here! Should be doin' that every day... need the grins! ;-) ---drivin' and derivin'? LOVE it!!!
Hi Lucy, glad you finally found out what the question was, even though it didn't make much sense, also glad you enjoyed Brokrback Mountain, it's getting good reveiws here too.
Those horn-honking drivers in NJ prepared me for their counterparts in Tel Aviv with their zippers (reference to my post on Bagrut Bloopers).
I read the Brokeback Mountain story in the New Yorker awhile back, and look forward to seeing the movie version. Everyone I know who's seen it liked it.
I did not know Brokeback was filmed in Canada.
We are going to see this movie this weekend.
There's oscar buzz about that movie.
I think that picking my nose while driving is more dangerous than honking my horn.
Your in rare form today TLP. Great post.. i can just hear you talking to that radio..
And what's with the honking fear.
I have no fear..in fact, i love to tell Tom to lay on the big hadley horn in the RV. We get plenty of opportunity to do that. Those stupid folks who pass us...and then just cut directly front.
I gotta see that movie.
Yeah I would've gone with...
60% of drivers are afraid to do this because they think it might be dangerous...
drive while trying to figure out what the question of the day is!
This is probably true. You blow your horn and which way are they going to jump, or swerve? Probably right where you're planning to go...
I think that Hoss is right. I'd jump if someone blew their horn at me.
I want to see the movie just for the scenery. Thanks for telling us where it was filmed. I'd go around thinking it WAS Wyoming.
It all makes sense now--I can totally believe that Ang Lee directed "Brokeback Mountain," because, when I think about it, both "The Hulk," and "Hidden Tiger, Crouching Dragon," were pretty gay.
)+(
havent seen that movie, i'd just wait for the video...
Three comments before 6:00 am. Are you guys crazy? Jamie's got it right. This one could win some awards, from what I'm reading.
As usual, we'll wait for the DVD to be released. Once we buy it for a discounted price, (The Missus will never pay full price for anything) we'll promptly begin our first of twenty or so viewings.
Hiya Lucy,
Just stumbled in off the street.
Glad to make your aquaintance I'm sure!!
Okay, maybe I will have to go see Brokeback Mountain. You've peaked my interest. I'm all for British Columbia scenery. And popcorn. Lots of popcorn.
