Trick-or-Treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat

Radio question of the day: About 80 percent of us occasionally do this while driving?

My daughter Aral (ap3) tells me that some places actually have trick-or-treat night on October 31st. What will they think up next?

Where we live, each year the various communities pick a date for trick or treat night. Our TOT was last night, Thursday.

I was busy installing all the things on my PC that the PC hospital failed to reinstall. They reformatted the PC and boy it sure is running fast! So I'm not complaining. But since I had taken in all the disks I had with all my programs, I had just sorta assumed that for the hundred bucks I paid them that they would reinstall things like WORD. Those guys. They're a busy bunch of jokers. Guess maybe the help-wanted sign in the window shoulda tipped me off.

Took about two hours to figure out all that I wanted to put back, like WORD and the printer, and then reinstall them, but I think I'm good now. Haven't checked the scanner though. It's probably not installed come to think of it.

Anyhow, where was I before you interrupted me with this PC crap?

Oh, yeah. Trick-or-Treat. I'm upstairs in the "study" as my husband Niks refers to it. Okay, so it's lined wall-to-wall with bookshelves and has a big desk. It's a computer room. Ain't no studying goin' on in here. Who the heck has a "study?" He needs to get over himself. So, I'm on the second floor and the front door to our silly house is on the main floor. Some smart architect.

So I'm running up and down, up and down, to answer the door for two hours. Kids are allowed to trick-or-treat for only the two hours from 6 PM to 8 PM. It's been a long time since we have had that many kids on our fake Halloween. Some were obviously trucked in. I know that our town now has a couple of minority families, but I had several groups that are not living here. I don't mind that. They were polite and fun to see.

It was a nice evening and I'm sure that I lost weight on the stairs. That's a good thing.

Radio question answer: Steer with their knees. You guys! Stop that!

Okay, now I've actually read your post.

I would've guessed "pick your nose". I always see people doing it, like the rest of the world can't see into their car while they dig for nose babies.

You are too funny, TLP. "ain't no studying going on in here!" And yeah, I've steered with my knees before too.

Drives my husband crazy. AND YES, I'M BEING CLEAN WITH THAT STATEMENT! Gutter-minds... ;-)

Glad you're back!

LOL, hey Natasha, I love that site. I know what you mean about the boogers. Ewwww...

Amber, I would never doubt you. You always have a clean mind.

Guess I'm in the minority...I've never steered with my knees.

We have Halloween on Halloween. In my sister's community, they always try to do it on a weekend. Kind of takes the fun out of it, if you ask me.

Funny - trucked in treaters.. we've experienced that. DH likes to kid around with the treaters. One group of trucked in treaters showed up at our door- no costumes. Happens more and more these days.

DH says .."what are you?" and they say "We're rappers?" DH says - OK -so what you do you say? They of course.. in low hard to understand voices - say Trick or Treat? He says trick.. They look at him like he's an idiot. He just keeps smiling.. at 'em - surely you rappers can do something. you know like rap.

Then.. a cute young girl comes by..dressed as a gypsy. She was darling.. She Says --trick or treat? DH says trick - she's prepared. She has a joke. a knock knock joke..

"knock knock" - Who's there? Wood? Wood who? Wood You - Would you please give me a treat?

Happy Halloween - BTW - i checked your worth too - it was $45K+. Your on a roll.

You sure make me laugh, Tan Lucy. Take very good care of your PC now, ok?

Monique, I never have either. I've checked my makeup, and talked on the phone, but I can barely steer with my hands. The knees aren't going to happen.

Lucy, too funny! Wish I had read that before trick-or-treat night.

Doug, you tryin' to say that any of my messed-up PC's problems were my fault? Huh? I resemble that remark.

Oh I steer with my knees! It works great!

I can't believe there are communities that pick a trick or treat night! I thought everyone did it on Halloween!

Lucy, thanks so much for the link to the 666 company. I never thought to search for it - duh!
It was funny to read, and I like the pics on it too.

Saurkraut. Okay, I forgive you since you did such a good job at Burlington's, but no more, okay?

Kenju: You're welcome. I wanted to know more about it myself.

I remember the Halloween you missed us going Trick or Treating because AP3 had been born the night before.

We had some trucked last night, too. We had more kids than we've ever had, I think. Actually worried that we might run out of candy, for a change.

Oh, and I've never steered with my knees. One handed or No handed, but not Knees.

That is a tradition i could do with. I don´t think we have anything quite like it.
There is a day when we all dress as anythign we like somewhere in February, but we are not allowed to knock at houses and blackmail people into giving us sweets.
Although here in Iceland you can knock at many doors and say something like "Hi, I am Monika and I am really hungry, could I eat with you nice people tonight?" and a lot would say, "Sure, why not...come in!"
I love this country.

"That's a good thing." Did you make that up? That's a good line. I once say a stitched homily that said, "Martha Stewart doesn't live here. That's a good thing." Other than that, I don't ever think I've heard of that saying.

TLP said...

3d, yeah, honey, I've seen you drive. Hoo Boy!

You know, I remember that Halloween pretty well too for some reason. I remember that I had made you a Peter Pan outfit before I got side tracked with the baby.

Monica, I never thought about whether or not other countries do this. England does, or I think they do.

Lula, lucky girl with the parties.

Hoss: I think we're at about
Hoss 101, TLP 0, or thereabouts.

I still can't believe you had that many kids! Very strange. I wish we got kids. I usually just end up sitting on my fat @$$ eating the candy!

TLP said...

Hey, almost birthday girl! We haven't had this many kids since you and your siblings were still at home. It was good weather, there are once again kids on the street, and then there was the truck-them-in-from-across-the-river factor.

I never steer with my knees, but sometimes with my elbows when I am putting on hand lotion. That's okay, isn't it??? Don't answer that!

TLP said...

Mike, well I would hope that a RR guy would be a safe driver. The two handed gestures are, of course, absolutely necessary.

Schnoodlepooh, you're used to a long commute, but now those days are over. Have some good-lookin' guy put the lotion on when you get to work.

I would never have guessed. Steering with knees:) At 5 feet nothing...it would be suicidal to attempt it tomorrow morning...so the drive to church should be interesting. Wish me luck

TLP said...

No Edina, no! Don't go to the dark side.

Acton, good for you. He has way too much energy for his own good anyway.

I thought the answer was gonna be pick their nose.
