Life's like that

The gap between the haves and the have-nots is getting bigger by the minute. Our newspapers are full of stories about the Super-Rich. Suddenly a million pounds sterling buys you nothing - property-wise. It's horrendous.

My wages might be ok if I got to keep any of them! Granted I need insurance. But I'm easily paying 20% of my paycheck in taxes. Guess you can thank my tax dollar for helping support this war. Not by my decision, of course.

Belated White Rabbits!
I asked my husband if we had an equivalent to Labour Day and apparently it is May Day - to do with Trade Unions. We didn't have one for nurses in my day and none of us would ever have gone on strike in any case.

Don't get me going on this one, or I might do a post on the subject of "The poor get poorer, and the rich .." well, you know the rest.

As an "old age pensioner" in England you get the lowest pension in all the 'United States of Europe' Nowadays it is impossible to meet all the necessary expenses of staying alive, without going cap-in-hand to the Social Security for extra benefits.

Mayday? Bah!

suddenly i feel like selling all our crap on eBay -- in hopes we can retire to someplace nice, like, say... Sweden. ; )

I am thinking of buying an old sailboat, some wind generators, some 100 watt solar panels, and living on it. I figure I could get something half way decent for about $15,000. Then I would pay no rent - just a membership at the yacht club. About $100 a month but that includes $35 in bar money. The club has a shower and water. If I wanted electricity to run an AC I would need shore power. That could prove to be a problem.

But hey for $100 a month and no rent, it would not take long to recover that $15,000 - $20,000.

I did no labor what so ever, that IS the idea, right?

Logo - yes. TLP doesn't have to do labor any more because she's RETIRED. GRRRR - I'm so envious! But, Happy post Labor Day anyway :-)
