Carbon copy

Our today's forecast is "a near carbon copy" of yesterday.

Half of you aren't even old enough to have ever used carbon paper, so do you even know what a carbon copy is???? You whipper-snappers.

But I've sure used carbon paper and made many a carbon copy in my day.

You know, I don't think that I'm old enough to how the origin of "whipper-snapper." Maybe Old Hoss will know. *Bueller? Anybody?

Now I have to wonder if anyone who reads this is too young to remember Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Several are too old to know about it. Just sayin'.

I do indeed remember that nasty old carbon paper! Hated it.

I'm just guessing, but I think whipper-snapper must have come from people who knew how to snap the old-time horse whips.

I loved Ferris Bueller! I laughed till I hurt watching that movie.

I know carbon paper too well. (I just checked my fingers to see if the stains have faded.)

As to ditto machines: I worked one semester as the aid in our school office and spent an hour a day in a cramped room overheated by the mimeograph machine, high on toasted ink fumes ....

I was very young when last I saw mimeographs. I still remember that SMELL though!
On our trip to east WA we went to a service station that still used carbon copies for the Visa transactions, my youngest was fascinated.

I can't believe the 80s were so long ago!

I remember mimeographed copies at school -- such HORRIBLE reproduction, really.

My father had a couple of old Remingtons in his office; as a child, I used to love playing with them. Those metal ridges around the keys were murder, though if you couldn't aim right. Ouch!
