Snowy Day

It snowed yesterday and last night. We didn't get that much snow actually. Maybe 5 or 6 inches tops. Anyway, I went out into the storm just to take this picture of my house for you. Okay. It's not actually storming. But it is kinda sleeting/snowing still.

I should lighten this picture so you can see better. But I just remembered: I'm too lazy. And I need coffee. Okay, okay. I don't actually know HOW to lighten it. Okay? Satisfied? Jeez! You guys.

Our street has been plowed, but the snow-removal service that comes and digs out our driveway hasn't arrived yet. So I did get snow in my boots getting this picture for you. If you're a good person, you feel guilty about that.

The top picture is taken from in front of my house looking down our street. I love our street. Nice neighborhood, nice people, who could ask for more?

Well, I could ask to win at Scrabble just one d*mn time in my life. Daughter Acton Bell and her spouse Ekim came over last night and beat the tar outta us again. That Ekim. Too clever by half.

That Acton Bell. So sweet. Apologizes for being smart. See, if you *raise'em right, they feel sorry for you when you get old and lose brain cells. That Lucy. Such a harpy.

*I know that you rear children, and raise crops, but kids are a bit like a crop, no?

Your street looks like a holiday postcard. Nice house too. I hope it's warm inside because it looks terribly cold outside. I'm such a wimp when it comes to cold weather. Give me a 100 degree day rather than a freezing one.
Happy Sunday, harpy TLP.

Pretty white stuff! Just glad it's not here. I do feel bad that you got snow in your boots :(

But thanks for the pretty pictures :)

The picture is just great, Lucy. Don't let 'em push you around. And thanks for sacrificing your feet to the cold for us.

Oh, by the way, it's calm here in Oregon, high of 58 today. Banana belt.

You have a fine crop of kids and beautiful snow.
The sun is shining here! Yay!

If Acton was a good daughter, she'd let you win.

Great shot of the Pez house. I agree with Jamie; it looks like a postcard.

It's 55 here today which is twenty degrees below normal. Even we're suffering.

Nice pix! You're inspiring me to take some photos up here...

I'm not that good at Scrabble -- never got that into it. But hey, you should play me some time -- it'll be your big chance to win.

To me, being good at Scrabble is about intelligence, yes; but also key is knowing a bunch of obscure 2 and 3 letter words. I never got that far.

OH MY GOD. I just noticed that actonbell called you "a fabulous cook". Rock on!

HOORAY!!! Look at the SNOW :-)

we had a huge amount of snow here today which began last evening actually. It is supposed to set some sort of record but I will not know what that exact number is until later on in this evening. Big fat huge snowflakes swirling around my window all day. Wonderful.

The top photo looks exactly like a postcard.

dear fabulous cook, thanks for letting us see your lovely neighborhood. In the snow. xoxo

JD, yep, it's a winter wonderland.

Ivy, thanks for the sympathy.

Hoss! That's cold for you, huh?

Acton, just like your mother used to cook, huh? Oh, that's right. That's me.

Schnoodlepooh, I'm SO happy for you to finally have SUN! Yea!

Lime, you babe, you've got in made!

Fred, oh yeah. I feel your pain!

AP3, watch your mouth baby girl. Okay. I can't compete with Wonder Woman for cooking. True.

Ozg, Thanks! It looks great on the link you gave me!
Everybody, go to the link Ozg gave. That's the way it's supposed to look.

Partyrunner! We could get to meet you there next year. Fun. Oh, yes. I made and paid for the hotel reservations for NEXT year while I was up there THIS year. You don't just have to make the reservation. You have to PAY a year in advance if you want to stay at the Pantall.

Still Life, Isn't it beautiful? You and I can enjoy it more than most, because we can choose whether or not to venture outside or not. And we don't do any shoveling. Sweet.

Mireille. LOL. That Acton. So sweet she thinks her Mom can cook.

Gorgeous pic, looks lovely but I am glad up here in Mirielle/Schnoodlepooh/logo land we are warm and sunny. I took a motorcycle ride and it was so great to be back out on the road.

I am practicing feeling guilty, just because I am hoping it will mean that I am a good person, I am not very good at it though.

Logo, it's the thought that counts. You're trying to feel guilty. I accept that. You guys had enough bad weather. Your turn for the sun.

Beautiful pictures and I really like your house. Is there anything worse than being whupped by someone who's gracious about it afterwords. You have to come up with a whole complicated rationale for tripping them later.

I hate that you got snow in your boots to take those picture for us. Can I send you a new pair of socks or something?

Gorgeous pics! Snow turns to slush here, luckily we don't get much at all. I wouldn't mind if my neighbourhood looked like yours. :-)

Nice snowy picture, TLP. If you want to lighten it, go to www. Picasa.com and sign up (it's free). Then you can lighten it, crop it, change colors, anything you want - to your heart's content.

Loved the snow picture; brot back snowy memories of our house in that state west of you. Remember some beautiful country in PA.

We need some of that white stuff in our mountains in So. Cal. We are also short on rain. Won't even mention our temps, 'cause we're havin' a heat wave.

You gotta get some taller boots; play games they don't know.

Absolutely gorgeous. That's what I expect every time the weather forecasters predict snow, and what happens? Half an hour of coconut falls from the sky, I ooh and aah and lose myself, enveloped in the awesome mystery of the universe then I look at the ground: it's slippy, wet and grey. Such a letdown. Wasn't like this when I was a girl!! (Global warming or false memory syndrome?)

I'm guessing you know how lucky you are already, hope you don't need to leave the house until it's thawed though.

Beautiful. I think if we are going to have thirty degrees in f-ing Florida, we should at least get some of the pretty white stuff. But that's just me.

BarbaraFromCalifornia said...

It looks like a winterwonderland on your street.

In so. California, snow is a non-existent word.

Beautiful. (put I understand there is shoveling.)

"snow-removal service that comes and digs out our driveway..." seriously?
That might just be an idea for a new company in iceland. No such thing is known here, yet somehow it would make a lot of sense!

Libby said...

lucy, your house and street look absolutely like they're opening their arms to you & saying "welcome home! come in from the cold!". oh, and, by the way, if you want a game that REALLY fun, try 'Upwords'!

I didn't get to do much blogging this weekend, but I was wondering you fared with the snow. Lovely pictures and you're a trooper for taking them for us!

We had about 3-4 inches which was cause for great panic around here and was all the more hillarious to me when it melted nearly completely away in a matter of hours.

Fuckkit said...

I like snow when I don't have to deal with it. It's pretty in pictures, it sucks when I'm in the middle of it and freezing.

Tom & Icy said...

you need to find a game to play them where you win all the time!

Great photos Lucy, thank you for them.

Your street is lovely with all that snow. Nice house too!

I don't feel guilty though and I am a good person! A little snow in your boots never hurt anyone and just think of the fun YOU had getting these pictures for us!! :)

Happy Valentine's Day!!

sherle said...

Thanks for sharing Lucy! My snow pics usually start out the same as yours... but it's easy to change with Adobe Photoshop Elements 2, a program that came with my computer. There must be a setting on the darn camera though - for getting that snow white! ;-)

Nice pics. You could save these and make some 2006 Xmas cards -- add in some clipart of the pez family playing in the snow.
