Back home

Radio question of the day:

The average one of these lasts five days...and it's used by other people...
What is it?
********************************

My husband Niks and I went to Memphis for my sister Bonnie's funeral, and are now back home after a week on the road.

The service for Bonnie was nice, and very well attended, which made me feel good for her and her family. She left a husband, son, and three grandchildren. On the way back to Pennsylvania Niks and I went to the small village in the Tennessee hills where my parents, and all three of my sisters, were born. Bonnie was cremated, and I scattered some of her ashes there in the cemetery where most of my mother's family is buried. My father's family is buried in a different cemetery just down the road.

You see some strange things on the road. The above sign is one of them. A lot of folks in this country don't know how to spell. Just sayin'.

On the way home, Niks and I stopped at a few places that looked interesting. One of those places was "The Natural Bridge" in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley. It is beautiful. They claim that it is higher than Niagara Falls. Those Virginians. It is very high, but I've seen Niagara Falls, and the falls appear higher to me. Probably that's just me.

I want to catch up with all of you, so now I'm off to do a lot of reading.

Answer to the radio question of the day:
Rolls of toilet paper.

No! That's not where I'm off to do my reading! You guys!

I'm just here to offer warmth on your return.

What worries me about that sign is that I failed to see anything wrong. I spot spelling mistakes for a living! It'ts been a long day.

Glad you are back home again and all went as well as it could have under the circumstances.

I didnt even notice the error in the sign at 1st, and i usually am a stickler for spelling errors. maybe its just been a long week.

GLad to have you back!! we missed you.

I've missed you. Glad you're back home. :-)

Typos in newspapers are bad enough but 'permanent' mistakes like that are rather sad.

I'm glad you're home safe & sound. I was thinking about you when that cold front came in across the southern & middle states. Funerals have such a mixture of emotions; you remember all the good times, and you feel sadness about the loss of the one who died. I hope your treasured memories soothe the times of sadness that you feel.

That road sign is great!

I'm glad you're home. But I'm just sayin' that one of those rolls of TP doesn't last that long at my house. And the dogs don't use any... I'm just sayin'.....

Down under, "Drive" is a brand of laundry powder.

Hence "Don't Drink Drive" is usually followed by "because it's laundry detergent"....

Good to have you back and thanks for the update about your sister's service. You had lot's of supporters here - as you know.

Now - re: Virginia.. i was just looking at some places to stay -- in this state since it is pretty close to us. I'll have to check your link. We've been to Niagra Falls - pretty specatcular. We are always up for a new view.

I have been remiss in reading from my Blog Roll and have spent most of this Sat. afternoon catching up. Sorry to hear about your sister.
...I have seen that Natural Bridge. I agree, I think it falls considerably short of the height of Niagra Falls.
