Fatter than ever!
I'm fatter than ever! Sigh.
T'was the month after Christmas, and all through the house
Nothing would fit me, not even a blouse.
The cookies I'd nibbled, the eggnog I'd taste
At the holiday parties had gone to my waist.
When I got on the scales there arose such a number!
When I walked to the store (less a walk than a lumber).
I'd remember the marvelous meals I'd prepared;
The gravies and sauces and beef nicely rared,
The wine and the rum balls, the bread and the cheese
And the way I'd never said, "No thank you, please."
As I dressed myself in my husband's old shirt
And prepared once again to do battle with dirt---
I said to myself, as I only can
"You can't spend a winter disguised as a man!"
So--away with the last of the sour cream dip,
Get rid of the fruit cake, every cracker and chip
Every last bit of food that I like must be banished
Till all the additional ounces have vanished.
I won't have a cookie--not even a lick.
I'll want only to chew on a long celery stick.
I won't have hot biscuits, or corn bread, or pie,
I'll munch on a carrot and quietly cry.
I'm hungry, I'm lonesome, and life is a bore---
But isn't that what January is for?
Unable to giggle, no longer a riot.
Happy New Year to all and to all a good diet!

The family holidays
We had a nice Christmas with all the area family in attendance for XMAS night. Fun for all.
Last night we had a great evening out with daughter, son-in-law, and his 'rents.
Thursday a nephew and niece from NJ will be coming, and on New Year's Day, step-daughter and her family will be coming for a few days.
It's been, and continues to be a family holiday.

Mt. Rushmore
This is me on a beautiful day at Mt. Rushmore. I'm trying to remember all the wonderful, sunny days niks and I had on our trip, now that it's cold and the days are short. But wait! The days will start getting longer now. Yea!

Brrrrr....
Geez, it's cold! I haven't been able to walk outside because of the cold. My friend and I like to walk at 7:30 AM. We're going to have to choose a later time, or walk a (boring) mall. Poor Tan Lucy.

Tan Lucy is feelin' fine
Talk about smug! I'm feelin' very smug. Tree is up and decorated, house is clean, cards are addressed ( and many are mailed).
Yep. Feelin' fine.

Lights, tree, action
I put up our (permanent) tree, which has built-in lights, and put more lights on it. So it has about 800 little lights on it. The tree went up night-before-last. Today I put on some ornaments. Also, I have housecleaned the downstairs well.
That's the good news. The bad news is that I still have to really clean the upstairs of the house. The worse news is that I need to send out at least a few Christmas cards, and I can't even remember where I put the ones I bought for this purpose. Sigh. Guess I'll be buying new ones. I've been through this in years before: We buy Christmas cards right after Christmas each year, store them away, lose them, buy new ones, then immediately afterwards, stumble on the ones we bought first.
If Aral Peppermint Patty or Goa'uld would teach me to post pictures, I would post a picture of a very pleased Tan Lucy Pez here, because I'm pretty happy to have the tree up.

Sunday musings
It's Sunday and dreary (again). Lately I've made Christmas center pieces at church (with our craft group), and sold them to raise money for the church. We made over $600 after our costs. Pretty good I think.
I need to do Christmas cards, but haven't. Want to put up the Christmas tree, but haven't. Should clean the house, but haven't. There seems to be a pattern here.

Serena
This week I'm taking care of one of my grandcats, Serena. She's a sweet kitty. She misses her people, who are on a cruise. I hope they bring their sweet little kitty a nice present. She's being very good.

Bridget
niks brainy smurf pez and I went to see the new "Bridget Jones" and enjoyed it. Funny, but too sexy for little pez-people.
