I was having trouble with my computer. So I called Harvey the computer guy, to come over. Harvey clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem. He gave me a bill for a minimum service call.
As he was walking away, I called after him, "So, what was wrong?"
He replied, "It was an ID ten T error."
I didn't want to appear stupid, but I had to ask, "An, ID ten T error? What's that .. in case I need to fix it again?"
Harvey grinned.... "Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?"
"Nope," I said.
He said "Write it down, and I think you'll figure it out." So I wrote down: I D 1 0 T
That Harvey... I used to like him....
I second Actonbell. When I worked on cars the equivalent diagnosis was "Bad nut behind the wheel."
ReplyDeleteDon't hate Harvey, TLP! There are people in the computer business who make millions of money and run huge companies maybe with less knowledge of computer studies than Harvey has. He desperately needs to know that there are still people under him in the computer hierarchy.
