Inner Loser

The picture above is for all you losers who failed the simple Sunday quiz. You guys!

Radio question of the day:

According to a new study, what are the top two occupations when it comes to germ infestation?

**********************************************

It's now about 9:30 AM. 'Course it's really only 8:30 AM. Daylight savings time isn't the real time. I'm remembering my Mama. Whenever we were on daylight savings time, she would correct you about the time. If you said it was eight o'clock, she'd say, "Well, it's really only seven o'clock." Now she's gone, so I have to keep you folks advised of the real time.

Mama also rounded up a lot. If it was 8:31 AM, she'd be apt to report that the time was "going on 9 AM." That worked for ages too. I aged fast as a kid. If, for example, I was three months past 9 years old, well, in Mama-time I was going on 10.

In Mama-time, people "pulled" ages too. If someone said that a person was "pushing 60," Mama might correct them and say, "She looks more like she's pulling it." That Mama. Sweet little thing.

Answer to the radio question of the day:

Number 1 is teachers... (Well, sure. It's those snot-nosed kids they hang with.)
Number 2-- bankers... (Filthy lucre I guess.)
Number 3-- accountants...(Huh! I useda be one! I'm clean. I swear!)
radio D-J's come in at number 4, followed by doctors...

This study was done by Clorox by the way. Heck, Clorox is my middle name.

i would have guessed - drug store employees - my son use to work at one and was always getting sick.

Accountants - i would not have guessed this - hmmmm maybe they took this survey at tax time?

my dad has a tendency to round time up. Especially in the mornings. he is one of those people who wakes up naturally at the butt crack of dawn and doesnt understand anyone who would want to sleep in. So..if it was 10 and somehow i was still in bed, according to him "it's almost noon, why dont you get out of bed and...". And the age thing too, especially with us kids. As soon as it was the month of your birthday, in his eyes, you were already pushing your next birthday. My 26th bday is in 2 weeks, but since yesterday i am going on 27...oh well. that guy.

Does clorax have another name in England. As a teacher, a filthy one at that, I need to know!

I guessed correctly incidentally.

Radio DJ's? I guess the spewing spittle into microphone thing. Ew.

I'm so glad you wrote about the time change. I'm always saying well it's really and saying what the time is plus or minus the daylight savings shift. Good to know I'm not the only one.

They forgot about airport employees. If the bird flu comes into the USA - guess who gets exposed to it first?

Your Mama sounds like she was a jewel!

This time changing business is just to confuse us. Doesn't take much to confuse me.

I can most definitely relate to this on more days than possible!!!

I am known for over-estimating the time as well. Drives people nuts. In Iceland you are not supposed to show up on time, but rather half to an hour later. Then you are on time. It takes me concious effort to try to be late. When I have to go to a party that I know starts at 20.00 o´clock. You can bet I am waiting outside the house in question 5 to eight, killing time!!! Those Germans!

now, see? the caption on your cartoon would translate nicely to the picture sar's featuring today...

ronald mcdonald gets in touch with his inner loser!

(or is this another example of something that's totally hilarious in my head, but once i write it down...not so much?) : D

I wonder what's best... pushing 60 or pulling it?
Both sound tiring to me.
I'd rather be sailing through my twenties right now, but that time is long gone.
I'd say I'm plowing through my forties at the moment.

Oh, Clorox is the ONLY bleach for me!

Wow, I thought doctors would be first on the list. I've always heard to best place to get sick is in a hospital.

Teachers, definitely, but I am surised doctors are that far down the list. Who would have guessed bankers and accountants?
Huh...
The time change is killing me, KILLING ME!!
Like waking up wasn't hard enough!

I envy you all - over there, in the US: you're always younger than we are in Europe. :-)

I use the "real time" line when I travel interstate, mainly because I'm too techno challenged to change the time on my digital watch.

I plan to round DOWN my age to the nearest decade until death.

You were even a banker for a while, you filthy thing!

Yeah. I miss ol' Ynnarg Yoda Pez.

Your cartoon is interesting in light of what i've been up to -- see today's post at Pezland.

The sickest I ever got was after playing Santa. I think Santa is probably #1

it's no surprise teachers are first on the list... my kids were always coming home with colds/flu bugs... teachers kind of get that same exposure times, what? 20? 30? or more!

by bankers, you mean bank tellers, right? (otherwise we're gettin' into a whole different kind of dirty!)

(by the way, thanks TPL for your note about that link to my old site... i fixed it, but hopefully folks'll be able to find the new one...) : D

i keep doing that!!! i meant T-L-P!!! (it must be close to dinner time--causing my blood sugar to drop--causing me to get... stupid!) sorry! : )

Libby said...

TLP- yup, i'dve guessed teachers (kindergarten!) those kids always have runny noses!! & bank tellers & cashiers (which i've been!) there's nothing dirtier than money!! & some uneducated people lick their fingers when they count money?? bleaahhh! think about where that money's been!!

Tell me about it....

I've had more colds than ever since I began teaching. And, my first flu, too. Next year, it's all about the shot.

Hey, number 3? That's just not fair. I wash my hands all the time, I hardly ever touch anything other than my computer, calculator, pencil and ERASER. Yes! I erase! I admit it! I make mistakes! But they're germ free! I just don't get it. Ever since Enron and WorldCom, accountants are getting picked on big time. What about priests? Aren't they full of germs too? And what about those retired people? Always travelling around, picking up every germ they can find. It's just not fair!

i love that story about your mum and 'pulling' time!
