Big stuff

What I learned today:

A Kitti's hog-nosed bat (also called bumblebee bat) from Thailand is the world's smallest mammal. It's only 1.2 inches long and weighs 0.07 ounces.

Ya know how much does an adult moose weighs?

Males weigh 1,200 to 1,600 pounds, and females 800 to 1,300 pounds.

The heaviest person in medical history was Jon Brower Minnoch (USA, 1941–1983), who suffered from obesity since childhood. He was 6 ft 1 in tall and weighed 1,400 lbs.

I'd say large and in charge. Kinda like Cheyney, huh?

I think your onto something with this "learn something new everyday" thing. You learned about moose weights (which i now know too) but i also learned Cheney might have a 2nd career. Maybe he should try some different poses.

  11. I recently watched a documentary about a man who weighed 752 pounds! By the age of 11 or so he weighed around 300 pounds. He spent his days in bed as he could not walk... I just don't understand how that could happen to someone.

  13. that pic of cheney is disturbing and will probably linger in my mind for a few days...keeping me awake at nights :( But on the subject of weighing 1400 lbs...How does someone actually get THAT big? I just dont understand. Once you see yourself getting into a fewhundred lbs, dont you start to realize its time to change?? I just dont get it.

  17. I was remembering a toy I had as a kid. It was a trivia robot that worked using an 8 track tape device (yes, I am that old). One of the questions was, "who was the fattest man that ever lived" It wasn't the guy you mentioned so he probably was just a measely 900 or so at the time. I believe his name was Robert Hughes. Who was "so tubby they had to bury him in a piano case". Anyway, it just occurred to me how PC that robot wasn't and how things have sure changed (and not necessarily for the better) since the early 19blahblahs.

  18. Yikes, the poor guy being so displayes and not appreciated for his round curves.
I think it is hard for people that are really really big to go back and try to be more healthy. It just seems impossible to them to change anything and they figure they might as well continue down the road.
